They do have some GPS devices that work well for hauling trailers and lawn mowers.  You might want to look into something called the DeWalt MobileLock,  It is a GPS tracking device that is geared specifically to those interested in keeping their machines or construction equipment safe from theft without having to move them off of a construction site.  They are generally small enough to conceal well and let you know once they are on the move.
